What is the point of presence of Path diversity

Point of presence path diversity can be considered as an access point, physical location or demarcation point. At this point, two or more communication devices on a network share a single connection. The switches, routers, servers, and other devices are important for the networks or other users that are present in the POPs to cross over from one network to the next.

Most of the edge networks and internet service providers come with multiple points of presence near the huge exchange points. These are the areas where the SD wan Africa  companies share peering agreements with each other. The nearness of the internet exchange and the point of presence often plays as one of the deciding factors that denote how quickly and effectively the internet traffic can traverse through the internet.

Edge Locations and Points of Presence

The point of presence can be described as something as simple as a single server that is mounted in the cabinet of another person. On the other hand, age locations are another type of point of presence that comes with numerous types of Advanced infrastructure. The main difference between the edge locations and the point of presence is that the former is not a simple single server like the letter.

How does point of presence work?

Points of presence and the internet exchange points work in a very similar way. You can break down the equipment that is found in the point of presence into five different categories. In the following section of this article, we have mentioned the details of the categories. Keep on reading.

Base Stations: it is a central point of connection that offers access to the users. Along with that, it also helps you to manage bandwidth while distributing the connection speeds.

Plant equipment: These are the equipment that the customers use for connecting the central points to the other points of connections.

Network Switches: It offers the link leading to the last mile. These switches are also used for the distribution of the network.

Router: Offers several routes to the network

Firewall: It protects the network and the associated users from external as well as internal threats.

Internet service providers have been using thousands of points of presence for a very long time. The larger the whole network is, the more point of presence the company generally possesses. Having said that, the edge locations are way more sparse and more powerful than the POPs. Now it is your turn to decide which one you would like to use for your business.
